About

Hi, I’m Vicky Huyton, and I love what I do. Having been a coach since the age of 15, it’s the only career I have ever wanted. I eat, sleep and breath sport and continue to be fascinated by the world of performance coaching. There is nothing I enjoy more than chatting to a coach to find out how; how did they succeed, how did they deal with failure and how does their brain work.

With over two decades of experience in performance sport, I’ve dedicated my career to understanding and shaping the world of coaching. As a former performance coach for elite track & field athletes, and professional footballers at Everton FC and the England women’s football team, I’ve worked alongside some of the best coaches and leaders in the sports industry.

My Coaching Philosophy

My coaching philosophy centres on self-awareness and intentionality. I believe that by becoming conscious of our behaviours, emotions, and actions—and their impact on others—we gain the power to make deliberate, evidence-based decisions that elevate performance. Coaches are performers, and intentionality is essential to ensuring that every decision benefits athletes, avoids reactive errors, and supports their growth and success.

My Mission

Since founding the Female Coaching Network (FCN) in 2014, I’ve spent the last decade supporting elite female coaches and gaining deep insight into the unique demands they face—especially in the ever-evolving landscape of women’s sport. The FCN’s main goal is to ensure that all sportspeople have the opportunity to lead, coach, and compete in a safe, efficient, and equitable high-performance environment. Through my work, I have had the privilege to work alongside major brands such as Nike, and Whoop, and create change within sports organisations such as World Athletics, England Boxing, and British Athletics.

My mission with my coaching is to help ambitious sports coaches unlock their full potential, both professionally and personally.  I am a believer that better people make better coaches, but I also believe that coaches need all the support they can get in navigating the increasingly high pressured and faced paced world of performance sport.

The demands on coaches are growing daily, with high-pressure decisions, media scrutiny, and the constant balancing act of leading teams and satisfying organisations are pushing coaches to the brink. Burnout, family strain, and short careers are all too common.

That’s why having someone in your corner—a coach dedicated solely to your success and wellbeing—is not just helpful, it’s essential.

“I didn’t feel like coaching was the way I wanted to go any more. But having these women around me, like Vicky, it’s given me a lot of courage. It reminded me that there’s more to coaching than just the daily grind.”

Jane Figueiredo, IOC Coaching Lifetime Achievement Award, 2024

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your daily support.”

Carole Bam, Belgium Track and Field Relay Coach

“Thank you for the constant support and making me see things from different perspectives”

Danielle Boyd, UEFA B Coach and Head Coach, Fulham U18s
